Let’s be honest. Some mornings during perimenopause are stiff, foggy, and just… off. You wake up, want to go back to bed, and your body’s like, “No thanks, I’m not ready for life today.”
That’s when I started looking for something to help me ease into the day. I tried warm lemon water. It was okay, but not exactly exciting. Then I saw those little ginger-lemon shots at the store. I even bought a few — they weren’t bad, but they were expensive and not always available.
So, I decided to make my own.
Why Warm is better in the morning
During perimenopause, everything slows down — digestion, circulation, energy. Starting your day with something warm (instead of a cold smoothie or glass of water) can be a game-changer.
A warm drink gently wakes up your digestive system, helps your liver do its job, and feels better in your belly first thing, especially when you’re already feeling heavy, tired, and low-energy.

Golden morning drink ingredients
I juiced all the fresh ingredients, poured it into an ice tray, froze it, and now I’ve got these ready-to-go frozen golden shots. Each morning, I put one into a mug with hot water, and that’s it.
Well, not exactly. I also add collagen, creatine, and shilajit to it, but you don’t have to.
Here’s the breakdown of the benefits:
🟡 Turmeric
- Naturally anti-inflammatory — great for joint pain and mood swings.
- Supports healthy estrogen metabolism through the liver.
- Helps calm the low-grade inflammation that can mess with hormone balance.
🔥 Ginger
- Boosts digestion and circulation.
- Helps reduce bloating (as if the jelly belly wasn’t enough).
- Supports insulin and cortisol regulation, which are closely tied to how we feel during menopause.
🍋 Lemon
- High in vitamin C — great for adrenal support and immune health.
- Encourages bile production and liver detox.
- Hydrating and refreshing without being harsh on an empty stomach.
🍊 Orange & 🍏 Apple
- Add a little sweetness, and vitamin C.
- Help balance the stronger flavors, making it super drinkable.
🧡 My Optional Boosters
These aren’t required, but I like throwing them in when I feel like my body needs more support, which is almost always:
- Collagen powder – for skin, joints, and gut.
- Creatine – helps with energy, strength, and even brain function.
- Shilajit – a mineral-rich resin that supports energy and hormone health.
🥄 The Recipe: Ginger-Turmeric Morning Shots
You’ll need:
- ~100–120g fresh turmeric root (1 small store pack)
- ~150–200g fresh ginger root (a generous chunk)
- 5 lemons (peeled)
- 1 orange (peeled)
- 1 apple (not peeled)

Instructions:
- Peel the turmeric, ginger, lemons, and orange. Core the apple.
- Juice everything (I used a juicer, but a blender + straining works too).
- Pour the juice into an ice cube tray.
- Freeze until solid, then transfer to a container or bag and keep in the freezer.
- In the morning, drop one frozen shot into a cup, add hot water, and enjoy.
You can drink it as is — or add collagen, creatine, cayenne pepper, cinnamon or whatever your body’s into that day.

✨ Final thoughts
It’s a small change to make — and yeah, the prep can be a bit messy with all the peeling and juicing. But once it’s done, it’s super convenient. You just open the freezer, drop a shot in your mug, pour hot water over it, and you’re good to go.
If you try it, I’d love to hear what you think. Or let me know if you make your own version — I’m always curious what other women are doing to make midlife mornings feel more enjoyable.
